Backend Software Engineer Lead @

Elation is looking for a Backend Engineering Lead with a deep understanding of APIs, systems and performance. Elation’s development team is a small group of experienced and talented engineers who are passionate about our product and users. As a leader on the team you’ll be working alongside product, QA and engineering to guide the team in delivering value to our users. As the lead, you’ll contribute more than simply code; you’ll help develop the team and have an opportunity to own your impact by helping the team deliver value to our customers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate to improve the core services and APIs central to our platform
• Ship improvements and new features
• Communicate across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to understand our users
• Support team members through code review and thoughtful collaboration
• Provide mentorship to other members of the engineering team
• Improve our engineering standards and processes
• Aid team in applying scrum methodology
• Work across teams to solve problems
• Coordinate with product, design, QA and engineering to break down and sequence work

Experience & Skills

• 8+ years experience in software development roles
• Prior experience leading and mentoring a software engineering team
• Proficiency in Python, experience with Django
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle
• Experience working with SQL and relational databases
• Background applying scrum methodology
• Empathy for our users and colleagues
• Curiosity about our users and healthcare delivery
• Experience troubleshooting challenging issues
• Growth mindset and a passion for learning and improvement
• Experience delivering SaaS products and working with AWS or other cloud hosting

Experience developing a microservices environment a plus
